About Designer/Illustrator Richard A. Varga
My name is Richard A. Varga and I was born in the "Motor City" of Detroit, Michigan. I was creative at a very young age and liked drawing cars in elementary school art class. The teacher would ask us to sit at the window and sketch what we saw outside. Cars were usually parked along the street and that was what captivated my interest most. At six years old I was hooked on cars. Being praised by my family, teachers, and classmates, I pursued my unique ability to draw what I was looking at. At twelve years of age I had the good fortune of meeting a neighbor, Jack Telnack, who was an automobile stylist for the Lincoln-Mercury Division of Ford Motor company. Styling cars was my dream job. With his quidance he led me into the field known as Industrial Design. During my senior year in high school and just after graduating, I attended the The Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. Here I received full scholarship grants and attained a Bachelor of Fiine Arts (BFA) degree in Industrial Design. My majors included Auto Styling, Graphic, and Product Design. After graduating in 1972 my first job was a trade show exhibits designer with Display & Exhibits Company in Wayne, Michigan. Surprisingly my job was to create environmental settings (exhibits) that enhanced the modern day American made automobiles of the Motor City. I was responsible for nation-wide Auto Exhibitions that highlighted Detroit's Big Three car manufacturers: General Motors (GM), Stellantis (formerly know as Fiat/Chrysler, and Ford Motor Company including the Lincoln-Mercury Division. In 1978 I was offered a specialty car styling position with TESA (Thomas Edward Stevenson Design). Two years later a Product Design position with NCR Corporation was offered to me. It was a new design challenge in mainframe computers. Many other design jobs followed including medical products, educational learning environments, S.C.U.B.A. gear graphics, and technical illustration. I often jokingly say that this time was a 42 year vacation stay in "America's Finest City-San Diego, California. My lifestyle became ideal, summertime every day, ocean boogie boarding, visiting mountanous picturesque landscapes, deserts, and beautiful palm trees. A dream come true for a Midwesterner from the Great Lakes state. Now retired, I reside in Raleigh, North Carolina. Most of my time is now spent photographing and illustrating cars, trucks, and motorcycles. My expertise in emulating shiny metals and surface reflections has come to fruition. I now do specialty illustrations as commissioned artworks for my company - Car-Vues. I do live drawing demonstrations of vehicle drawings on computer at local car show events. My artworks can be viewed monthly at the Cars & Coffee Show in Morrisville, North Carolina (The first Saturday from 8:00am to 11:00am). I am left-handed and in my creative right mind. Being a Pisces naturally attracts me to the love of water. For 25 years I sailed my own sailboat named Sloop Du Jour, moored in Mission Bay, out into the Blue Pacific. If you are reading this you are visiting my Car-Vues websit, and probably have a keen interest in vintage, and high performance automobiles. Enjoy your visit and view my Precious Metal Gallery. Or commission me to enhance an illustration of your own Pride and Joy two or four wheel vehicle. A unique visual representation that will compliment any "She-Shack or "Man-Cave." And as I often say..."Let your Wall wear it well."

Thanks for visiting. Come back often and soon...
